17 states, FCT record 497 new COVID-19 cases, no death

17 states and the Federal Capital Territory reported 497 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, according to the figures released on Sunday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Sunday.

According to NCDC, the 497 new cases were recorded from Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Kwara, Osun, Oyo, Rivers, and 11 other states.

Lagos reported the highest numbers for new infections with 211 new cases. New COVIS-19 cases reported by other states was as follows: Akwa Ibom – 80, Kwara -73, Osun -29, Oyo -17, Rivers -17, Cross River -15, Edo-14, Anambra -9, Ogun -8, Ekiti -6, Bayelsa -4, FCT-4, Plateau -4, Bauchi -2, Nasarawa -2 with Kaduna and Jigawa reporting a single case each.

The health agency said the 497 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 173,908

However, 164, 994 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.

With no deaths reported, the death toll from the virus remains 2,149, NCDC said.

It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
