Born in Port Harcourt, Mercy Nnenda Chinwo popularly known as Mercy Chinwo is a Singer/Songwriter who came into limelight after emerging winner of the Nigeria Idol season 2 in 2012.
Starting her musical career as a backup artiste for other Gospel artists of the likes of Preye Odede, Buchi, Joe Praize, Sammie Okposo, Chris Morgan and more, Mercy released her first single “Testimony” in 2015 . Produced by Rotimim Keys.
As an actress, Mercy got her first movie role in Yvonne Nelson’s film, House of Gold, a year after winning the Nigeria Idol. She starred in the movie alongside Majid Michel, Francis Odega, Ice Prince, Omawumi and many others.

Mercy Chinwo who is the first child of six lost her dad at a very young age. She also got involved in music at a very early age, being a member of the children’s choir in her church and transitioning to the adult choir prior to launching her musical career.

In 2018, Mercy Chinwo won the Best Gospel Artiste award at the CLIMAX Awards 2018.
In 2019, at the maiden edition of the Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST 2019) Mercy Chinwo won in three categories: Africa Gospel New Artist of the Year, Africa Gospel Female Artist of the Year and Africa Gospel Song of the Year with her viral song Excess Love. Notably, the categories she won contained top gospel musicians including Sinach, Prospa Ochimana and Tim Godfrey.
Mercy Chinwo is currently signed to Eezee Conceptz record label. Her major breakthrough came in 2018 after she released the song “Excess Love” which gained so much popularity within and outside Nigeria.
